Food Boxes of HOPE

Whether it is a one-time need or more often, we strive to support our local community members when money is tight. No one should go hungry when the total amount of food waste produced in the United States is estimated to be close to 106 million tons per year. We have partnered with Midwest Food Bank to make sure that does not happen in Maricopa, Arizona. Instead of creating a food box and just giving them out, we set up our donations "grocery store style" and those in need can come and shop, picking out the items that they need and that they will use in effort to reduce food waste. Another benefit of our market style pantry is that we are also partners with the AZ Diaper bank to add diapers, period products, and incontinence supplies accessible to our community member. 

Our goal is to open the food pantry and let families fill their box once every two weeks.

 Borderlands' P.O.W.W.O.W. serves as our largest Arizona redistribution program.  We partner with Borderlands Produce Rescue in Nogales to make sure that nutritious produce is not dumped in the landfill but offered to our community. We try to offer this service once a month.
